11/21/2023 0 Comments Turmoil mars u.s. mint![]() ![]() While some Mint employees described a positive work environment, others claimed that there was a noticeable “downward trend” in recent years due to rising racial tensions and acts of discrimination. The report highlighted outdated policies, cliques and ambiguous promotion practices, as well as the perception of favoritism. It stated that the firm’s findings “point to possible root causes for the racial division” at the Mint. Mint assistantdirector, minorities will see that we aren’t racist or sexist.” The report was written by TI Verbatim Consulting. Managers made comments such as “we need a modeling minority” and “if we place a minority in the U.S. Many employees expressed concerns about how promotions and hiring for minorities were handled and some said they feared reprisal for making formal complaints. The report described a workplace with “implicit bias” and “microaggressions” toward minorities.Participants in a survey conducted by the consulting firm, which included more than 200 staff members, senior managers and executives, said race was a divisive issue at the Mint. The report found that the agency, which is part the Treasury Department, had a culture problem and staff felt unsafe. It was produced by an independent human resource consulting firm and was commissioned last year by the Mint. Although there have been instances of racism at Mint in the past, a new internal report was reviewed by The New York Times. A new internal report has found that minorities feel marginalized at the Treasury agency responsible for producing the nation’s coins.
